CHINESE CANADIAN WOMEN, 1923-1967                                                       Grade 7-12

Chinese Canadian Women, 1923-1967 features resources to help teachers use this website in the classroom. Resources include a teacher's guide, four lesson plans and two historical exercises. These materials help students develop their historical literacy by giving them opportunities to work with primary source materials in order to understand the experiences of Chinese Canadian women during a period of discriminatory immigration policies.

FAMILY STORIES, TREASURED MEMORIES                                                Grade 5-8

Introduces students to settlement experiences in Toronto through primary sources and original research. Students will work with historical photographs and oral histories, prepare for and conduct interviews with family members, and display their findings in creative ways. 

There are three ways to complete this programme:
· MHSO-facilitated at school (fees apply)
· Teacher-facilitated at school, using school kit (loan fee applies)
· Teacher-facilitated at school, using Family Stories website (free of charge)

Curriculum links: Language Arts (Grades 5-8), Social Studies (Grades 5-6), Geography (Grade 8), History (Grades 7-8).

Cost: Fees vary according to programming option selected.
· MHSO-facilitated at school: $5.00 per student, per class visit
· Teacher-facilitated at school, using school kit: $10.00 loan fee per week, plus postage.
· The Family Stories, Treasured Memories five-panel travelling exhibit is also available to be borrowed by schools. It is available free of charge to schools that select the MHSO-faciliated programming option.

Cancellations are accepted without penalty 72 hours in advance of the scheduled program date.
