Irene Dias Occupation: Works with Workplace Safety Insurance Board Artifact: A very old Portuguese coin Ms. Dias has lived in the High Park area for 35 years, since immigrating from Portugal. She has worked with CNIB, Hospital for Sick Children, and the CIBC, and after graduating with a degree in English, began to work with the Workplace Safety Insurance Board. The very old Portugese coin was given to her by her grandmother when she was a young girl in Portugal. Her grandmother dug it up while gardening. "She has always kept the coin as a reminder of all the things that are out there to discover. The coin is one of the key things in her life that made her want to succeed or discover al new possibilities that come with a good education." |
