In February, two interns from the Faculty of Education at Queens University, Anita Yip and Doris Georgopoulos, made valuable contributions to the Resource Centre by cataloguing and upgrading archival collections.
Work continued on the accessioning of material related to the "Sons of Italy" collection, thanks to a grant from the Mariano A Elia Chair in Italian Canadian Studies at York University. Volunteers LeDieu Tran and Claire Yao transcribed and copied oral history tapes from the Chinese Canadian collection.
Approximately 300 researchers used the Societys research collection during 1998-99.
In partnership with the Chair of German-Canadian studies at the University of Winnipeg, the Society continued the project which used oral history testimony and techniques to record the varied experiences and contributions of German-Canadian settlers in Ontario and to increase the Societys holdings in this area.
