Many Chinese Canadian women have been involved in politics, including May Chiu, who was a candidate for the Bloc Québécois in the 2006 federal election. May Chiu was born in Hong Kong in 1965, and moved to Canada at six years of age. She has been actively involved in Montreal's Chinese community, first as Director of Chinese Family Service of Greater Montreal and later as a political candidate in the 2006 federal election. In the accompanying audio clip, May discusses this involvement, and her attempts to represent the generation of Chinese Canadian women that preceded her.
